Krewe of Endymeow

Endymeow

In New Orleans, the charm and elegance of Mardi Gras is woven into the fabric
of almost everything in the city. It is a celebration of being a true New Orleanian:
it’s what we do. Just as it is natural that we partake in this wonderful tradition with
our family and friends, so it is, by extension, that we should come to celebrate its
meaning with our pets.

In 1998, The Cat Practice Veterinary Hospital started its own Mardi Gras krewe;
an organization designed to celebrate the bond we all have with our cats. The
name of the krewe is Endymeow, a tongue-in-cheek name coined off of the name
of one of Mardi Gras’s bigger parade organizations, Endymion.

Endymeow has evolved into a bal masque for cat-lovers. We ask the human
revelers who attend to submit pictures of their cats to be put up on our website.
Hopefully, the cats will be attired in appropriate costumer befitting the theme of
the current celebration. And, at the bal masque, the feline king and queen of this
year’s celebration are revealed. Always chosen by a secret vote of the feline
“krewe” of Endymeow, the king and queen have their portraits hung in the exam
rooms for the entire year until next year’s royalty is selected.

So enjoy our website’s selection of Endymeow in years past.
