well animal care
Preventative medicine is the foundation of today’s veterinary care. Regular wellness exams are essential for a long and healthy life for the feline. Wellness exams uncover potential health issues early, in the most treatable phase of illness. Due to the stoic nature of the cat, illness may smolder unnoticed for some time. We have designed junior and senior wellness diagnostic profiles especially for our patients to address conditions that are known to shorten their life span as well as reduce quality. Remember that you are an important part of the medical team. You know your feline family member’s habits and personality best, so your observations and input is essential to us. We work together to provide optimal health care for your cat.

dentistry
Dental disease is the most common health issue affecting cats today. It is
vital that your cat receives proper dental care, not only to maintain the ability to consume the nutrients and calories they receive from their diet, but also to help avoid oral pain, infection and the buildup of harmful bacteria which can spread through the blood stream, infecting the heart, liver, and kidneys. Regular professional cleaning and polishing of the teeth will help to prevent serious health problems.

diagnostics
In order for us to provide effective treatment, a rapid and accurate diagnosis is essential. For this reason, our doctors may recommend diagnostic testing to provide a diagnosis for your pet’s symptoms. Some of the diagnostic services we routinely recommend are done in-house. Some are sent to outside labs that give us rapid answers. Sometimes it necessary to utilize the diagnostic ability of specialists (pathologists, surgeons, internists, radiologists, cardiologists, ophthalmologists, oncologists, etc.) that make up the support network that we use to help our patients.

nutrition
Dietary management is important for the life-stage development in the cat. One of your most important responsibilities as a cat owner is to provide your cat with the necessary nutrients required for its growth and maintenance. Pet’s that are ill, pregnant, kittens that are growing, and senior pets will all have different feeding requirements and dietary needs.

Obesity is a common medical condition requiring strict dietary management. It contributes to a host of medical conditions like diabetes, orthopedic injury, liver disease, urinary tract disease, and food allergies. Nutritional strategy plays a key role in the success of obesity management which may include prescription diets, additional exercise, and strict monitoring of the patients daily caloric intake.

If you have concerns or questions regarding your cat’s diet please call and make an appointment at The Cat Practice.

vaccinations
We customize any vaccine protocol for your cat to its environment and its need for disease prevention according to our risk assessment. Kittens are vaccinated starting at age 6-8 weeks. We have designed kitten wellness packages that include laboratory screening for Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immuno-deficiency Virus, fecal examinations for intestinal parasites, and appropriate vaccines.

cattery (boarding facility)

Our quiet boarding facility affords cats a tropical habitat with a view of our
8 ft. Zen fountain. The sound of the Zen fountain’s cool, trickling waters serves to create both a relaxing and stimulating environment for our guests. Each cattery cage has a ledge which allows cats to exercise their natural instinct to perch while providing a mesmerizing view of the Zen Fountain. For our guests that prefer a more social environment, we have four cages above the receptionists’ desk with a view of The Cat Practice activities.

Medical and grooming services are available during your cats stay.

adoptions
The Cat Practice houses a LA/SPCA Adoption Program, which has adopted
out more than 3,000 cats and kittens since the programs inception in 1996. We work closely with the SPCA to reduce the number of cats and kittens euthanized each year. Cats and kittens are received from the SPCA only. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cats or kittens from the public. Please come by and visit our adoption center when considering a new addition to your family.

We currently do not have any cats or kittens available for adoption, please call to check with us.
